My Favorite Artist

When I think of art and design, the artist that I most admire comes to mind - Jenny Saville. Her images are bold, in-your-face, grotesque and unflinching. In short, I admire her incredible courage to get away from "pretty." For such, what seems like, a quiet and introverted person, her art is loud and strong. My takeaway from this is to not be afraid to stray from what is safe in art, specifically design. Her perspective on everyday objects, specifically the female body, completely changes your perception of the object. In design, you can take an everyday item and make it electric. That's what I've learned from Jenny Saville's work.
